Brooke Cohen is a sophomore at Brown University, where she studies public health and economics and is working towards becoming fluent in Chinese. Having grown up in Singapore, Brooke actively sought ways to explore her Jewish identity in one of the world’s smallest Jewish communities. She chaired her synagogue’s Tikkun Olam Committee and regularly volunteered at the Jewish senior home. Brooke is deeply passionate about Israel advocacy and helping others understand the connection between Judaism and Israel. This has motivated her ongoing commitment to Brown Students for Israel as well as her participation as a delegate at the WJC’s inaugural Jewish Youth Assembly and Hillel International's first Israel Summit. Brown’s Rhode Island School of Design Hillel has become her second home which sparked her desire to join the wider Hillel movement. Along with being a Lauder Fellow, this year Brooke sits on the Hillel International Student Cabinet. Outside of her Israel advocacy work, Brooke is passionate about period equity and has created initiatives to provide menstrual products to those that lack access.
