Israel and Jordan sign peace treaty

On 26 October 1994, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul-Salam Majali signed a historic peace treaty ending decades of open conflict and establishing diplomatic relations between the two country. The Wadi Arab Treaty signed just north of the Arava border crossing, formalized Jordan’s position as the second Arab country, after Egypt, to sign a peace deal with Israel.
