World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder met on Thursday with President Barack Obama at the White House. The meeting offered a unique opportunity for President Obama to discuss the prominent points relating to his upcoming visit to Israel. In the course of the hour and a half meeting, the President also had the opportunity to hear the thoughts that the Jewish leaders brought to the table.
“I can say that the discussion was not just open, but extremely positive and very cordial,” said Mr. Lauder. Since the meeting was confidential and off the record, Mr. Lauder is limited in divulging anything else from the visit with the President. But he did add this:
“I believe that Mr. Obama’s upcoming visit, which will be his first to Israel since he was elected President in 2008, is very important. It will be an opportunity for him to hear, first-hand, the concerns that are shared by ordinary Israelis. His presence, in the land so dear not just to the Jewish People, but Christians as well, is certainly very much appreciated by all of us.”
