Jeff Weise, the Native American student who murdered nine people and wounded at least 14 at his Minnesota school on Monday before turning the gun on himself, wrote in a web chatroom run by a neo-Nazi group that he was a fan of Adolf Hitler. "I've always carried a natural admiration for Hitler and his ideals, and his courage to take on larger nations," Weise, 17, wrote under the screen name "Todesengel" (German for "angel of death"). The postings were found on the website of a group that embraces the ideology of the Third Reich, but accepts all races, so long as they stay separate. Weise wrote that his belief in racial segregation made him an outcast at his high school on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in far northern Minnesota. Weise said on his website in April 2004 that he was removed from the school because he was suspected of writing a threat to shoot up the school on the 20th of the month. 20 April was Hitler's birthday and the date of the 1999 Columbine high school massacre in Littleton, Colorado.
