Catholic League president under fire for anti-Jewish outburst

The Irish-born leader of America's largest Catholic civil rights organization has sparked outrage by saying that Hollywood was full of Catholic-hating Jews. Bill Donohue, the president of the Catholic League, stunned fellow guests on a US talk show when he said: "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. That's why they hate Mel Gibson's movie 'The Passion'. It's about Jesus, and it's about truth." His remarks were immediately condemned by Jewish radio host Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who called them "anti-Semitic garbage".
