Turkish Jewish community shares the bitter and the sweet in song, on the eve of Shavout

The Jewish Community of Turkey has produced a music video featuring children, adults, and community leaders singing the popular Israeli song  ‘Al Kol Eleh’ ('For All of These') in celebration of the upcoming holiday of Shavout, a festival to remember the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the reaping of the seasonal harvest.

The ensemble, which includes Chief Rabbi of Turkey Yitzaak Haliva, highlights the unity of the community as it confronts the bitter and the sweet in life.

Al Kol Ele was composed by Naomi Shemer in 1980 and delves into the recognition that without the bitter, there is no sweet. In this time of uncertainty, as we prepare for Shavuot distanced from our loved ones, it is these reflections that keep us united.
