Blinken highlights stepfather's Holocaust rescue in secretary of state acceptance speech
During his speech thanking president-elect Joe Biden for his nomination as secretary of state, Tony Blinken paid tribute to his stepfather’s survival of the Holocaust. Blinken recounted that when his stepfather was saved by an African-American GI, his stepfather “got down on his knees and said the only three words that he knew in English that his mother taught him before the war, “God bless America.'"
