Mr. President,
Antisemitism is not a relic of the past—it is a clear and present danger. Today, we are witnessing an alarming surge in antisemitic hate crimes, rhetoric, and violence worldwide. From attacks on Jewish communities to the spread of dangerous conspiracy myths online, this ancient hatred is adapting to modern times, exploiting technology, politics, and crisis to spread division.
History has shown us where antisemitism leads if left unchecked. It begins with words but escalates to violence and even genocide. In too many countries, Jewish schools, synagogues, and institutions require heavy security—not as a precaution, but as a necessity. No community should have to live in fear simply because of their identity.
This is not just a Jewish issue—it is a human rights issue. Where antisemitism flourishes, so too does intolerance, racism, and threats to democracy. We call on governments to act decisively: to strengthen legislation, enforce hate crime laws, and hold social media platforms accountable for the spread of antisemitic hatred. Education must be a cornerstone of prevention—teaching future generations the lessons of history and the values of tolerance and respect.
The World Jewish Congress urges this Council to take a firm stand: Antisemitism must be condemned unequivocally, and concrete action must follow. Let us ensure that "never again" is not just a phrase, but a reality.
Thank you.
