Noemi Di Segni, born in Jerusalem 24 February 1969, is the elected President of the Union of Jewish Communities in Italy for the term 2016-2020 and a second term 2021-2025. Living in Rome with her husband and family, she is the Head of the President Office and International Affairs of the Professional body representing in Italy chartered accountants and statutory auditors, the Consiglio Nazionale dei Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili.
Within UCEI she has served in the first council term (2016-2020), as Assessor responsible for Budget and financial issues and promoted the reform and harmonization of internal reporting, budgetary and statutory compliance. She also serves as member of the Executive Committee of the World Jewish Congress, European Jewish Congress, The Board of AEPJ (European association to preserve Jewish heritage) and Chairs the Jewish Foundation for civil protection and the Foundation for the development of Jewish cultures (Grazia Dio Isaia Ascoli), acts as treasurer of Ort Italy.
As President of the UCEI and in representation and the 21 Italian Communities (30.000 Italian Jews) she has engaged in promoting the contribution of Italian Jewry to civil society, to the Italian culture and entrepreneurial experience, journalism and literature; dedicated to fostering the interreligious dialogue with the Vatican and Italian Church, as well as dialogue and coexistence with Muslims and different minorities; undertook focused initiatives for the enhancement of legislation, regulatory measures and judicial understanding of anti-Semitism, denial of the Shoa and radicalism in order to the fight, together with other International and European bodies, against any form of hate and prejudice; she has engaged resources, cultural and organizational efforts for the enhancement of the Hebrew language and a must and basic knowledge of Diaspora communities, for recognition of Israel and its capital Jerusalem as central for the identity of the Jewish people.
Within the Institutional tasks she attends regularly parliamentary hearings on situation impacting on Jewish rights, freedom of religion, hatred; she follows on legislative proceedings and administrative acts related to restructuring and preservation of Italian Jewish heritage, especially, ancient books, cemeteries and catacombs, archeological areas in center and south Italy, launch and planning of Jewish museums for Shoa and cultural heritage all over Italy.
After October 7th the most relevant efforts are targeted on safeguarding the recognition of Israel’s right to defend itself, the recognition of it actions as legal and peace hoping, to acknowledge and share worldwide the devastation, the suffering of victims and hostages, the gaps and lacks of international organizations, to outspoke and engage against distortion, propaganda and media bias, especially in the academia, local administrations and in the Church.
Special attention given to the research, investigation and protection of Jewish communities, courses for leaders and personnel, court and judicial representation in cases files against different antisemitic and denials.
Within the mission of UCEI, follow up on the internal academic course in Jewish studies (BA) and collaboration with universities and academia for specialist courses and masters.
She is appointed by Ministerial decree on the Governmental committee to preserve the Memory of the Shoa events, the Committee for restructuring the Italian pavilion in Auschwitz, the Committee for drafting the Italian Strategy against antisemitism. She regularly promotes and attends press conferences, gathering, demonstrations, seminars at national, European, Israeli and international level to explain the situation of antisemitism in Italy, the collaboration with the security forces and special millennial heritage of Italian Jewry.
