World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder: US Vice President Mike Pence is a true friend of Israel and the Jewish people

NEW YORK – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder on Monday praised US Vice President Mike Pence’s remarks made to Knesset earlier in the day, calling him a "a true friend of the State of Israel and the Jewish people."
 
“President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have proven time and again since entering office that the US administration today is a true friend of the State of Israel, dedicated to the well-being and security of the Jewish people, to the indisputable nature of Jerusalem as Israel’s historic capital, and to supporting a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict if agreed upon by both sides,” Lauder said.  
 
“The World Jewish Congress shares in these values and deeply welcomes the fact that the Trump administration is not afraid to voice clearly its stance on these issues.
 
“We can never cease to underscore the historical and unbending link of the Jewish people to the State of Israel. We must continue to defend the truth that Jerusalem is also a holy city for Christians and Muslims, and that all three faiths deserve to have their religious sites and historical connection respected. We must continue to promote our shared belief that peace in this conflicted region is indeed possible in our lifetimes, despite the obstacles we face. And we must continue to spread this message, as long as the biases and double standards go on.

“We also greatly appreciate the Trump administration’s commitment to fighting against the radical elements in the Middle East who are seeking to destroy our way of life through inflicting terror against innocent civilians across the region and worldwide. No people should ever have to live in fear or danger.”
