Speaking with eJewishPhilanthropy at the 15th Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA) Forum in Dublin, Ireland, Yfat Barak-Cheney, Executive Director of the World Jewish Congress’s Technology and Human Rights Institute (TecHRI), discussed the importance of sustained engagement with social media platforms to strengthen enforcement against antisemitic content.
While acknowledging concerns over content moderation and platform accountability, Barak-Cheney underscored that direct dialogue with technology companies remains essential to securing meaningful changes in how they address online hatred.
“It’s really important to actually bring these discussions where it’s most difficult,” Barak-Cheney stated. “The point is not to go where it’s easy. The point is to go where we need to support the local community.”
The SECCA Forum meeting was organized by the World Jewish Congress, in partnership with the European Commission, under Ireland’s rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
