Máté Holler, External Relations Manager of the WJC Technology and Human Rights Institute (TecHRI), led a session at the European Union of Jewish Students’ Summer U in Bulgaria on tackling online antisemitism. He explained how hate speech operates in the digital space, the legal thresholds under the EU’s Digital Services Act, and common challenges with content moderation on major platforms.
Máté introduced HO:PE, TecHRI’s new tool for reporting and tracking antisemitic content, and showed how it empowers Jewish communities, strengthens cooperation with tech companies and authorities, and improves transparency. Participants worked through real case studies, exploring platform responses, the role of context, and the importance of effective reporting systems.
