At an event on Wednesday in Miami, hosted by the Gunster Law Firm, the World Jewish Congress and legal professionals discussed the ways in which they can be supportive of the Jewish community and Israelis impacted in the wake of the October 7 terror attack by Hamas. The meeting of lawyers, as well as topical experts, served as a follow-up to a recent WJC mission to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the kibbutzim across the country’s southern region.
The forum was also attended by Israel’s Deputy Consul General in Miami, Mike Driquez, and was organized by WJC Chief Marketing Officer Sara Friedman and Aron Raskis, a shareholder and trial lawyer of Gunster, who was a participant in the delegation.
Speaking to a group of local leaders from the legal community, Driquez shared, “We are fighting the war for the future of Israel, the future of the Jewish communities around the world, and actually, the future of mankind.”
During their time in Israel earlier this year, the delegation participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the country’s legal landscape and the humanitarian impact of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. The trip, which coincided with the deliberations at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over Israel’s actions in Gaza, included a variety of experiences aimed at providing a multifaceted perspective, ensuring the delegation gained a well-rounded insight into the complex dynamics of the region and an immersive approach with different facets of Israeli society.
