In response to the incident involving the removal of a group of young French Jews from a Vueling flight at Valencia Airport last Wednesday, the World Jewish Congress issued the following statement:
“The World Jewish Congress stands in full solidarity with the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) and shares its concern over the treatment of Jewish minors on the Vueling flight. We support the FCJE’s call for Vueling to conduct a full and transparent investigation into what transpired, including whether religious bias played any role in the decision to remove the group from the plane.
“Airlines must uphold the dignity and rights of all passengers equally. Anything less is simply unacceptable. If the investigation shows that antisemitism played a role in the forceful removal of the Jewish teens, we call for those responsible to be held fully accountable and for appropriate measures to be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
