Members of the Jewish community in the far eastern Russian city of Volgograd have devoted their weekend to cleaning the city's historic Jewish cemetery. Nearly 20 people picked up garbage, collected fallen trees and raked the leaves. Headed by the city's Chief Rabbi Zalman Yoffe, the campaign was meant to symbolize the cleanliness of one's soul, mind and thoughts. The community has seen some success in recruiting people available and willing to assist with practical and financial support.
