The Holocaust memorial at a World War II mass grave in western Ukraine has been vandalized. The site near the town of Lutsk was desecrated earlier this month, according to the local Jewish community. The monument was established in 1990 on the site of a Nazi wartime massacre of 25,000 Jews. Earlier this month, local Jewish activists and representatives of a sister congregation from London visited the site and discovered that the fence along the perimeter of the memorial had been damaged, and some remains of victims had been unearthed and scattered around the site. Police are investigating the incident, but no progress has so far been reported.
