Officials in a small UK village want signs identifying a park as 'Hitler's Walk' replaced after they were removed. The signs were removed following complaints but parish councilors in the Cornish village of Mevagissey say the name dates back to before World War II and want the signs returned. According to one Councilor it is a case of "political correctness gone mad" and that the signs were removed by regional authorities who had received only two complaints – from people who had only recently moved to the area.
Local historians say that the parkland was dubbed Hitler's Walk in the 1930s after a dictatorial local councilor (who was nicknamed after the Nazi leader) for his officious habit of walking up and down checking on the boats moored in the harbor.
