Two boys have admitted vandalizing a Jewish cemetery in southern Hungary, the police was quoted by the news agency AP as stating. The boys, aged 15 and 16, also admitted carrying out similar attacks last month on a Holocaust memorial and a store owned by Chinese immigrants, said Gabor Biro, spokesman of the Kaposvar police force. In Sunday's incident, the suspects painted swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans on two dozen graves. It was the fourth time in the past year that the graveyard in Kaposvar, 200 kilometers southwest of Budapest, had been vandalized, and police were investigating whether the two suspects had any connection to the earlier cases.
"For decades we never had any similar incidents," Laszlo Rona, the head of the city’s Jewish community, told AP, adding that the community was thinking of placing guard dogs near the cemetery to protect it at night. A Soviet military cemetery and a Catholic cemetery in the area were also vandalized recently.
