The Turkish government in Ankara has requested that its Iraqi counterpart allow the extradition of two Turkish Islamists suspected of involvement in the bombings of two Istanbul synagogues in 2003. American troops in Iraq arrested the men in January this year on unrelated charges, and they are being held in Abu Ghraib prison, the "New York Times" reports. More than 60 people were killed in attacks in November 2003 on the two synagogues and two other Western targets in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey.
