Juan Jose Galeano, an Argentine judge who was accused of mishandling a probe into the bombing that killed 85 people at the AMIA Jewish center in 1994, has tendered his resignation, which the country's president is currently considering. Until last year, Galeano was investigating the blast at the AMIA center. Galeano was removed from the investigation of the blast for having paid $400,000 to a suspected participant in the bombing, in return for testimony needed to move the stalled case forward. While the payment itself was legal, Galeano failed to record it properly in the case file. Two prosecutors were also taken off the case because judges said they knew about the payment.
