More than 5,000 people marched through the Germany city of Nuremberg on Saturday to protest against a 200-strong neo-Nazi demonstration marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the Allied trials of Nazi leaders in the city. Rotten vegetables and bottles were thrown as the Nazis met with protesters briefly, but a police spokesman said there was no serious violence. "Nuremberg can never again be allowed be a place for racists, anti-Semites and Holocaust denier," said city mayor Ulrich Maly to the demonstrators referring to the city's numerous associations with the Nazi regime. From 1935 the city has hosted the infamous Nazi rallies at the fairground outside the city - a tourist attraction to this day. Nazi laws that stripped German Jews of their citizenship and rights were also named after the city. The skinheads marched through Nuremberg under the motto "Justice not Revenge: Revision of the Nuremberg Trials". It is 60 years since twelve senior Nazi leaders were sentenced to death.
