Restitution was on the agenda when Jewish leaders met with Romania’s prime minister. Officials with the European Jewish Congress, the World Jewish Congress and Romanian Jewish leaders met with Calin Popescu Tariceanu and other government leaders last week in Bucharest. Protecting Jewish sites in Romanian and fighting anti-Semitism in the country were also discussed, and Romania pledged its support for resolving outstanding issues related to the restitution of Jewish properties.
