Iran continues to produce a steady supply of enriched uranium, despite the recent attack by a computer worm on its nuclear installations, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said. In an interview with the ‘Washington Post’, Yukiya Amano pointed out that Iran was producing uranium enriched to 3.5 and 20 percent "steadily, constantly." Iran has more than 3,000 kilos of enriched uranium and it continues to stockpile, despite UN Security Council resolutions that ordered Tehran to halt it.
Amano said he did not know how much of the uranium Iran needed to build a nuclear bomb. The IAEA was "not sure" if Iran is "hiding something," he said, explaining that the Islamic Republic was under obligation to "declare" its nuclear activities to the UN nuclear watchdog. Amano told the newspaper that the IAEA needed "more access, better cooperation from Iran and better implementation of the rules," adding: “I am not against Iran. I just want everyone to respect and implement rules."
Reacting to Amano's statements, a spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry claimed the IAEA chief was under "political pressure."
