Imam to be expelled from Germany

A Turkish imam is to be deported from Germany for hate speech. A spokesperson for Berlin's Interior Ministry said on Thursday that Imam Yakup T. of the Mevlana Mosque will be deported because of numerous sermons in which he expressed sympathy for suicide bombers, fomented hatred against Americans and Jews and predicted “hellfire” for Germans. The Turkish national has until 15 January 2005 to leave the country.
