The French Holocaust victims association "Suns and Daughters of France's Deported Jews", headed by Beate and Serge Klarsfeld, and the German group "Initiative Eleven Thousand Children" have given the Germany railway company Deutsche Bahn until next Tuesday to sit down together and discuss plans to show an exhibition about the deportation of Jewish children to the Nazi death camps in its train stations. According to the campaigners, a planned meeting of the two sides had been cancelled at the last minute. The exhibition contains private pictures of around 150 Jewish children who were deported from France to Auschwitz by railway between 1942 and 1944. The management of the state-owned Deutsche Bahn first rejected pleas to exhibit the pictures for the public, but following criticism from the Central Council of Jews in Germany and the German Transport minister Wolfgang Tiefensee, Deutsche Bahn signaled its willingness to put the artifacts on display in train stations. However, Serge Klarsfeld said that Deutsche Bahn was apparently still not ready to put the photos on show. He threatened demonstrations along railway tracks if talks would not resume by Tuesday.
