The University of Georgia has upheld the dismissal of the school's cheerleading coach, who was fired last week after a Jewish cheerleader had accused her of discrimination. Marilou Braswell was fired for "discourteous and disruptive behavior". The cheerleader, 22-year-old Jaclyn Steele, claimed her chances of making the American Football cheerleading squad were hurt because she did not participate in Bible studies and prayers encouraged by Braswell before matches. A senior university official now defended the decision, writing in a letter that Braswell had shown a "continued lack of judgment and leadership."
