The European Parliament (EP) on Thursday proposed to make January 27 a European wide 'Holocaust memory day'. In a resolution commemorting the Holocaust, anti-Semitism and victims of racism, members of parliamentarians called on European Union member states to intensify the education of citizens, especially young people about the history of the Second World War. EP President, Josep Borrel, urged a concerted fight against the phenomena that made the Holocaust possible: racism; anti-Semitism; xenophobia; racial hatred; and indifference on the part of society.
