The president of the European Jewish Congress (EJC), Pierre Besnainou, has expressed his satisfaction with the situation of Jews in the Czech Republic and with the attitudes of other citizens, especially politicians, towards the Jewish community. Besnainou was in Prague, where he met with Czech president Vaclav Klaus. According to Tomas Kraus, secretary-general of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the Czech Republic, Besnainou pointed out that he would be satisfied if the situation of Jews would be everywhere as good as in the Czech Republic. EJC leaders also met the new deputy prime minister for EU affairs, Alexandr Vondra, and the new foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg on Tuesday. President Klaus's spokesman told the news agency CTK that the Czech head of state and the EJC president discussed EJC activities and Israeli-Palestinian relations.
