The main Jewish community organization in the Netherlands has filed a police complaint regarding anti-Israel demonstrators who called for the death of Jews during a protest last month in Rotterdam.
According to the Dutch Central Jewish Board, those in attendance at the rally -which was advertised by the Palestinian Community in the Netherlands and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement- chanted “Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Muhammad is returning,” a reference to the massacre of a Jewish community in Arabia in the seventh century.
A Belgian man was recently convicted for chanting this slogan two years ago.
According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the Board’s complaint described the chant as incitement to violence and called for the Netherlands to adopt a working definition of anti-Semitism promoted by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. That definition describes the denial of Jewish national self-determination as a form of anti-Semitism.
Rhetoric that could be interpreted as supportive of violence against Israelis and Jews is not limited to the Netherlands.
In June, anti-Israeli marchers took part in Quds Day rallies across the world. In London, they waved he flags of Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Lebanese terrorist organization, and accused the Jewish state of perpetrating genocide against the Palestinians.
Small children were also draped in the Hezbollah flag, which features an image of a fist gripping a Kalashnikov assault rifle, prompting speakers at the counter-demonstration, to highlight the Quds Day organizers of using children to promote their cause in a form of child abuse.
