Two Czech police officials have been castigated for failing to curtail a concert of neo-Nazi groups. The officers were demoted for their failure to act at the concert held earlier this month during which some of the 500 participants, mainly skinheads and other neo-Nazis, chanted “Sieg Heil” and the name of Rudolf Hess, deputy leader of Hitler's Nazi party. The demotions mark the first time that Czech authorities have recognized that their response to organized skinhead events has been insufficient, police president Vladislav Husak told journalists in Prague on Wednesday.
