The University of Colorado has taken the first steps toward a possible dismissal of a professor who likened World Trade Center victims to a notorious Nazi. In an essay published after the 9/11 attacks the professor, Ward L. Churchill, called the trade center employees 'little Eichmanns' who were "technocrats of empire" working for the "engines of profit" and as such were inevitable targets. The University has ordered a 30-day review of Churchill's speeches and writings that will determine if the professor overstepped his boundaries of academic freedom and whether that should be grounds for dismissal.
