Moroccan Jews have held a ceremony in Casablanca to commemorate of the victims of the bombings in May 2003. 45 people will killed and many more wounded in a suicide attack on hotels in the city by Islamist militants. The commemoration event was organized by Casablanca's Foundation for Moroccan Jewish Heritage and the Museum of Moroccan Judaism under the motto "No to Terrorism, Yes to Democracy". Simon Levi, secretary general of the Foundation for Moroccan Jewish Heritage, said that two years on after the incidents all segments of the country's society needed to join forces to face extremist ideologies and look forward to the future with optimism to serve the interests of a strong Morocco with its multicultural heritage and which embraced contributions of all its citizens. The gathering was marked by presence of Moroccan Jewish leaders and representatives of the civil society.
