Neo-Nazis should be able to demonstrate at Berlin’s new Holocaust memorial, its American architect has said. At ceremonies marking the placement of the last cement slab in the memorial, Peter Eisenman said demonstrations should be permitted because he opposed “political correctness of all kinds.” Leaders of a right-wing extremist party recently applied for permission to hold a rally at the nearby Brandenburg Gate on 8 May 2005 to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.
