Police in Salt Lake Ciry, Utah, are investigating the painting of a swastika on a door of a car belonging to a Jewish family. Police say they have no suspects for the hate crime. The vandalism has lead leading Utah lawmaker David Litvack to renew his effort to introduce a hate crimes law in the state. The legislation would establish an increased penalty for such acts. Police and prosecutors have supported the bill, but there are also objections because of the group classifications listed in the bill which would enhance penalties. Those include age, ancestry, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion and sexual orientation.
