An Amsterdam rental agency removed an advertisement for an apartment that said guests could "live like Anne Frank," the famous Jewish girl who hid in an Amsterdam house from the Nazis during World War II. The Agency Amsterdamstay.com changed its website and removed the slogan after being contacted by the Anne Frank Foundation, which oversees the Anne Frank House and museum in the Dutch capital.
The foundation holds legal rights to the Anne Frank name and forbids its use without permission. A staff member at the Anne Frank House said one reason was to prevent the tourist industry exploiting the name.
