As we approach the third anniversary of October 7, we invite you to join the World Jewish Congress for a special online commemoration on Tuesday, October 6, with Rabbi Doron Perez, President of the World Zionist Organization and Executive Chairman of World Mizrachi.

For Rabbi Perez, October 7 is both a national tragedy and an intensely personal one. His son, Captain Daniel Perez, was killed while defending Nahal Oz on October 7, 2023, and his body was taken hostage into Gaza. For 163 days, his family held on to the hope that Daniel might still be alive. After learning of his death, they waited another year and a half until he was finally returned to Israel and laid to rest.

In this deeply personal conversation with our communities, Rabbi Perez will share Daniel’s story and his family’s journey through hope, devastating loss and remembrance. He will reflect on the faith and resilience that carried them through these unimaginable years and on the strength and hope that continue to sustain the Jewish people.

Three years after October 7, its impact continues to be deeply felt in Israel and throughout Jewish communities worldwide. This gathering is an opportunity for us to remember together, to acknowledge all that our communities have endured, and to reaffirm the connection and solidarity that bind us across borders.

We warmly invite you, your leadership and members of your community to join us and encourage you to share this invitation widely.

We hope you will join us in remembrance, as we come together to mark the darkest day for the Jewish people since the Shoah. May the memory of those we lost forever be a blessing.
