Bio

Samuel Konig is the Director of the Development, Northeast Region, for the American Friends of Bar-Ilan University. 

He was born in Vienna, Austria to Jewish-Polish parents, who were dispelled from Poland with their families in 1969 during the state-sponsored anti-Semitic campaign and subsequently sought refuge in Copenhagen, Denmark where Samuel grew up. While his family lived in Denmark Samuel received his informal Jewish education from Bnei Akiva and eventually as a young teenager attended Clifton College, a boarding school in Bristol, United Kingdom, where he continued to be active in Jewish life. 

 As a teenager he immigrated with his family to Canada where he quickly got involved with the local Jewish community. As a University student he was on the board of Hillel Montreal and the Canadian Federation of Jewish Students. For his dedication and commitment to campus activism CJA Jewish Federation of Montreal awarded him the Jon Roskies award for New Leadership. After working as the CIJA Israel advocacy campus professional for Hillel Montreal and Hillel Ottawa, he was appointed as the National Director of Hillel Canada.

He later moved to the United States where he became the Executive Director of Towson University Hillel, the second largest Hillel in the state of Maryland. In that capacity he led educational trips to Poland through March of the Living and Hillel and initiated trips to Vienna for young adults in partnership with the Jewish Welcome Service.

While he lived in Baltimore he was accepted to participate in the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies ROI Community and the Nahum Goldmann Fellowship. He moved to New York where he continued his career with Hillel International as the Major Gifts Officer for the New York region. He was selected to take part in the first cohort of UJA- Federation of NY Ruskay Institute. In New York Sam joined the Washington Heights Jewish Community Council and the Hazon board. For his contribution UJA-Federation of NY awarded him the Jewish agencies affiliates award. Sam is involved with the WJC American Section and is a proud member of the WJC JD Corp.

Samuel, his wife Aliza, and their son live in Riverdale, New York, where they are very involved with their community, synagogue and other local organizations.
