On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. (EST) / 16:00 (CET) / 17:00 (Israel) the World Jewish Congress, in partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, brought together Jewish women leaders from across the religious spectrum and around the globe for an online forum, “Women in Contemporary Judaism: Jewish Unity and Religious Diversity.” The panel event was designed to celebrate the diversity of opinions among, and acknowledge the challenges faced by, Jewish women, as well as address how to best meet these challenges going forward.
The forum opened with keynote addresses from Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevitch and former Knesset Member Ruth Calderon and then will feature two panels of speakers. The panels, “Religious Leadership: Challenges and Opportunities” and "Emerging Leaders in an Ever-Changing Jewish Landscape,” highlighted a range of Jewish women’s perspectives. Panelists represented geographic diversity as well as the Orthodox, Reform and Conservative streams of Judaism. President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities Noemi Di Segni also shared keynote remarks during the forum following the first panel.
