The Israeli operation to rescue the Jews of Iraq

Operation Ezra and Nehemiah was a special Israeli mission to rescue the Jews of Iraq. The campaign, which began in mid-May of 1951, airlifted 120,000-130,000 Jews from Iraq to safety in Israel and paved the way for future Israeli airlifts of persecuted Jews around the world.
