The Vél d’Hiv roundup

On 16-17 July 1942, thousands of Jews of Paris were rounded up by French police, who were under direct orders from the Nazis. They were held for days in the Vélodrome d’Hiver, an indoor sports arena, before being deported. Most were eventually sent to Auschwitz where they were killed.
