Tree of Life: My Romanian Jewish Roots

Lauder Fellow Natacha Hubelé is a Jewish activist born and raised in France, with Romanian roots. Half of her family comes from Romania, and she decided to trace back this tree of life, from which she keeps certain traditions and customs today. Natacha invites you to join her on a journey through the post-Second World War history of Romanian Jews, seen through their eyes and testimonies. She believes that the little stories help in understanding big History. Thus, she has the honor to present "Tree of Life: From the Second World War to Now Through Communism."

Episode 2: Alina Bricman
Alina Bricman is, since 2019, the Director of EU Affairs of the Jewish advocacy and service organization B’nai B’rith International. Based in Brussels, Alina coordinates B’nai B’rith’s work with the European Union institutions as well as civil society and industry experts to tackle antisemitism, strengthen EU-Israel relations and promote Holocaust remembrance. She is a member of Romania’s delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. Alina was the President of the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) between 2017-2019.

Episode 1: Andrei Schwartz
Dr. Andrei Schwartz PhD (Econ), born in 1981 in Romania, has dedicated the past two decades to volunteering with the World Jewish Congress, notably as a founding member and leader of the JDCorps, since May 2004. Holding a PhD in Economics and Management earned in 2012 and a Masters in Business Administration obtained in 2005, Andrei's professional journey spans the international business landscape, where he has played pivotal roles in establishing brands and companies across the globe, from the UK to the US, Panama to the Philippines. Alongside his professional endeavors, Andrei has passionately contributed to various Jewish initiatives, reflecting his deep commitment to community service. He served three consecutive terms until 2011 as Vice-President and Treasurer of the EUJS (European Union of Jewish Students) and held a position on the Board of the Romanian Federation of Jewish Communities.
