In a statement, the World Jewish Congress' Jewish Diplomatic Corps (JD Corps) reaffirms its solidarity and unity with the State of Israel and its people during these difficult times of violence and terror:
"Terror and incitement breed more violence and bloodshed; they are counterproductive to the aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side on the basis of a peacefully negotiated agreement.
"Israelis, like all peoples, have the right to live in safety and security. We urge Palestinian leadership to swiftly act to stop terrorism and incitement. "Scores of innocent people have been injured and killed. We call on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to publically express his commitment to nonviolence and deescalation of the conflict.
"We call on the international community, and on the leaders of our own countries, to immediately and unequivocally condemn these horrific acts of terror.
"We also express dismay with the biased portrayal of the recent violent attacks on Israeli citizens in international media. Distortion of facts and one-sided coverage of events fuel frustration on both sides and is detrimental to ending the violence.
"We continue to mourn the victims, pray for those injured and wish for days of peace ahead."
