Michael Schneider, secretary-general of the World Jewish Congress, has praised the positive attitude of former Argentinean president Néstor Kirchner towards the Argentine Jewish community and expressed hope that this policy would be continued by Kirchner’s wife and successor as president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. In an interview with the ‘Ambito Financiero’ newspaper, Schneider, who was making his first visit as WJC secretary-general to Latin America, called Iran a threat to the world but underlined that the regime gave a false interpretation of the Muslim faith.
