I am pleased to extend to all in the World Jewish Congress family my warmest wishes for a Happy Hanukkah.
Hanukkah is about miracles: not only the jug of oil burning for eight days rather than one but also the victory of the Maccabees in preserving Jewish national and religious identity.
When COVID-19 vaccines were introduced, it felt like a miracle had occurred; it offered us hope that the light at the end of the dark tunnel of the pandemic was approaching. And indeed, the vaccines and other measures taken have saved countless lives. However, unfortunately, the virus has not yet been eradicated, and many of our brothers and sisters around the world are still facing new waves of infection. But our spirit of Jewish unity prevails, and we are all here to support one another through the ongoing difficulties.
May this holiday bring you and your families good health, happiness, and peace, and may our Hanukkiot illuminate the path to brighter days ahead.
