The UK is considering changing its Holocaust remembrance day to a broader event commemorating other genocides aswell. A "Sunday Times" report quotes advisers to prime minister Tony Blair who apparently recommend the inclusion and recognition of Muslim deaths in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Chechnya and Bosnia. “The message of the Holocaust was ‘Never again’, and for that message to have practical effect on the world community it has to be inclusive. We can never have double standards in terms of human life,” said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain. Jewish leaders are opposing the move to change Holocaust Memorial Day, which has been marked on 27 January since 2001.
