Rabbi Marc Schneier, chairman of the World Jewish Congress United States, newly elected vice-president of the World Jewish Congress and president of the US-based Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, has met in London with the Board of Deputies of British Jews. In attendance at the meeting were Henry Grunwald, president of the Board, and vice-president Flo Kaufmann. The Jewish leaders discussed bringing the twinning of mosques and synagogues project to Britain. The twinning initiative was successfully implemented last year for the first time across North America.
The Board of Deputies leaders said they were ready to participate in such a project, which is aimed at fostering more understanding between Jews and Muslim on a local level.
Also in London, Rabbi Schneier delivered the sermon on Shabbat at the Marble Arch Synagogue.
