Leaders of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) in Israel have paid visits to the mourning families of the three murdered Israeli teenagers. They gave them books with thousands of condolence messages received by the WJC from Jewish communities and individuals from around the world.
More than 60 Jewish community umbrella organizations wrote condolence letters addressed to the families, and almost 2,500 people left a message in the WJC’s online condolence book. A further 200 did so on the WJC Facebook page. All expressed grief and shared the three families’ pain over their loss.
In the wake of the discovery of the bodies of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach last Monday, the World Jewish Congress had called on its affiliated communities to mobilize in support of the victims’ families and of the people of Israel.
"We thank all those who took the time to write down their thoughts and sent messages to the families. The response was overwhelming, and it has shown that Jews around the world are united in their rejection of atrocities," said WJC CEO Robert Singer.
