Two films of interest to the Jewish community were nominated for best foreign-language film: “Paradise Now,” which focuses on two Palestinian suicide bombers, and “Sophie Scholl: The Final Days,” which depicts the only woman at the core of the underground German wartime resistance group known as the White Rose.
