US television star Sarah Jessica Parker has been ordered to cover up after a billboard advert offended ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel. The star of the sitcom "Sex and the City" showed some bare flesh in a soap advert, and some rabbis called for a mass boycott by the Orthodox community. The original adverts for 'Lux', one of the leading soap brands in Israel, showed Parker in a backless gown familiar to fans of her role as the sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw. Facing a potentially devastating boycott by the ultra-Orthodox community, new posters were drawn up, clothing Parker's body to the satisfaction of rabbis. In a week when Israel was hit by the first heavy winter rains, a Unilever marketing manager had a novel explanation for the change: "We decided to make her dress more suitable for the winter weather."
