An office of Chilean National Television has been attacked by a local neo-Nazi group, which left behind swastikas, anti-Semitic scrawls and death threats. The attack occurred in Valparaiso, Chile's second largest city, on 14 July and followed a televised investigation that evening into increasing anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi attacks in the country. The program gave details of a surge in hate crimes committed by right-wing extremists and directed at Jews, black, gays, drug addicts, punks and others deemed “different”, including men wearing earrings. The report detailed how such groups operate in cells that authorities so far have been unable to penetrate. At night the groups convene in different parts of the country to prepare and then carry out attacks.
